That Grisly Cartoon Film Ending That Haunts Fans

Among every mature animated films I have ever viewed, no other has stuck with me quite like the dread-soaked ending of the graphically gory as well as highly provocative 2022 movie The Unicorn Wars.

Back in the year 2015, the Spanish filmmaker crafted a grim, somber and often savage universe that included several minor , desolate twinges of hope.

Although Unicorn Wars feels like it originated from an impulse to expand animation even more, the director stated that it was rather an effort to communicate a universal, multicultural message concerning “the shared root of each battle.”

That idea is conveyed through a squad of colorful pastel bears , obviously inspired by a popular series of lovable figures.

Being raised in a culture built around aggression and the military-industrial complex, a lot of these creatures are obsessed with slaughtering the mythical beasts, thanks to a religious scripture which states the bears they used to be rulers of the woods, before the unicorns forced them out.

Some did not entirely accepted the brainwashing, and prefer to sample drugs and engage sexually in the forest.

In contrast to their gentle counterparts, these vivid animals show sexual organs and clear urges.

For a certain notably brutal, skeptical animal, the character Bluey, the battle against unicorns transforms into a route to power — and particularly to supremacy above his softer, nicer brother the bear Tubby.

The character acts as a tormentor and an obvious psychopath , and while horror dominates his group and claims his teammates individually, he seizes increasingly control personally, through ever more bloody, harmful methods.

Simultaneously, the unicorns are experiencing their own terror, in the form of an expanding, deadly beast in their woods.

“At the beginning, it appears as a humorous movie,” the filmmaker said. “However it evolves into a more serious and sad movie. And in the finale, it’s a terrifying movie.”

Unicorn Wars starts out resembling among the whimsical movies from an iconic filmmaker, that discover a naughty glee in permitting animated figures curse, fire weapons, or have intimate relations.

Subsequently it becomes more akin to a bleaker work by that same artist, including ever more explicit brutality and a palpable connection to the actual tragedy of battle.

Ultimately, it is an outright theatrical horror bloodbath.

The horror that turns this a perfect Halloween movie begins much sooner than indicated.

The Unicorn Wars is ideal for the hardcore gorehounds, for lovers of graphic films who wish to see something they haven’t ever viewed until now, and can endure a story which delivers absolutely no punches.

Watch it in a dark room without any distractions, and the finale will dig into your mind and linger.
