The visionary game developer, who helped create the wildly popular franchise Call of Duty, has passed away in a car accident in the state of California at the age of 55.

Zampella's death was verified by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, the video game company that he helped create.

The renowned industry figure passed away following his vehicle was involved in a crash and caught fire on a freeway in LA on this past Sunday, according to.
