🔗 Share this article The network's Premier New Show of 2025 Gets a Substantial Renewal for an Additional Two Seasons. Last October, Adult Swim welcomed back its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. But, shortly thereafter, the network introduced a completely new animated series with a markedly softer vibe. Haha, You Clowns proved to be gentle and comforting, reminiscent of a animated take of a serene talk show. In an era often defined by dark humor, this show's sincerity found an audience and helped it become a surprise hit. A Major Commitment On December 18th, the network made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for two additional seasons. This provides creator Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to further explore the story of the Campbell family. The series focuses on three well-mannered teenage brothers whose central trait is their deep love for their widowed father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four key characters. "My deepest thanks go to the audience of the show who welcomed the series and spread the word," said Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for the foreseeable future." Network Praise In the same announcement praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and oddly captivating." He shouted out the fans who embraced the show and supported its peculiarly charming sensibility. "All of you showed up for this new show, rooted for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'" A Comforting Counterpoint Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a wholesome alternative" to other adult animated fare. It offers something unexpectedly cozy about watching this charming family go about their daily lives. Previously, creator Joe Cappa shared his desire to help comedy break out of its long-running layer of irony. He traced this trend to a broader media landscape. “It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we keep returning to,” noted Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we need to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.” Future Seasons Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa has the opportunity to be part of that comedic shift. At a minimum, the renewal promises audiences a little more time to bask in the gentle humor of the beloved Campbell clan. The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. The entire series is ready to watch on HBO Max.
